QQQQ was able to pare its losses
NASDAQ closed well off its session low in another round of light trading
volume. Amazon declined 5% on profit taking. Apple was strong. The tech
sector has very good chances to bottom out next week.

flash storage technology. Other semiconductors took a beating after

QQQQ tumbled into the red on news from Apple
Apple led the tech sector down after Tuesday's announcement that beginning
in 2010, the company will no longer take part in the annual gathering in
San Francisco. Many major tech players were in the red. Adobe Systems was
down 2% after posting gains earlier in the day on the software maker's
fourth-quarter results that met lowered expectations. Technically, the
tech sector tries to find support at the 50-Day moving average.

QQQQ rose sharply on rate cut
All major tech stocks saw gains in afternoon action. Intel was especially
strong and jumped 7% on positive company news. Best Buy contributed to
early-morning optimism by issuing better-than-expected earnings per share
results and in-line guidance for 2009. The tech sector closed above the
50-day moving average. It is a very good sign.

Tech stocks hammered as U.S. auto bailout falls apart. Many big tech names
closed lower after networking equipment maker Ciena reported a loss and the

Tech stocks managed to close with healthy gains with Yahoo leading the
advancers. Other gains came from Microsoft, Dell and many others.
Electronic Arts failed to join in the gains as the company issued a

Bellwether semiconductor companies advance in spite of a raft of earnings
warnings from Texas Instruments and Broadcom. National Semiconductor rose
more than 13%. The chipmaker said Monday that it would scale back its
production due to a weak quarterly earnings and sales report. Novellus
also said its fourth-quarter results would be below its current estimates.
However, it looks like tech stocks shrug off negative news and poised to
extend recent gains.

Association reported a 2% year-over-year drop in chip sales in October.

Little changed in thin trading
Yahoo jumped 9% on positive company news. Advanced Micro Devices climbed
11% despite the absence of any major news for the chip maker. Google
shares closed slightly higher. Investors focused on how recession-minded
shoppers fared at the malls. According to Sunday's reports, actual sales
last Friday chalk up 3% gain from last year. It is a positive sign.

Posted healthy gains ahead of the Thanksgiving weekend
Semiconductors stocks were particularly strong late in the day. Online
retailers shook off earlier losses that were sparked by negative reports
and jumped more than 4%. All other big tech stocksclosed the day with
strong gains. Technical indicators for key NASDAQ components are very
strong. We expect this bullish sentiment to remain for today's thin
trading session.

Got a strong boost on a broad market upswing
Apple rose more than 12%. Major Internet were strong but Google slid 2% on
negative comments. Hewlett-Packard reported formal quarterly results after
the closing bell, though the company already preannounced earnings and
revenue data last week. The better-than-expected results show how a
diversity helps absorb weakness in specific parts of its business. We
expect this bullish sentiment to prevail in the short-run.

Jumped in the final hour on Treasury news
The tech sector was up 5% after losing more than 11% over the previous two
days. The strong market gains did not help Dell, which closed the day down
more than 5%. Other hardware makers managed strong gains. Microsoft
climbed more than 12% on positive comments. All major Internet players
jumped as well. We expect this bullish momentum to continue.

QQQQ slid further on broad-based selling
The broader market turned sharply lower after lawmakers reported that they
have not yet agreed to a deal to help the auto industry. Chip stocks saw
strong gains early in the session, but ended in the red. However, makers
of semiconductor manufacturing tools kept some gains. Large traders keep
buying call options for stocks with solid earnings growth potential.

A broad sell-off in the tech sector dragged the Nasdaq Composite Index
lower. MIcrosoft is no longer interested in buying Yahoo. Overall, most

Association trade group put out its annual forecast for chip sales, and
the outlook for next year didn't look good.
