Yahoo jumped 9% on positive company news. Advanced Micro Devices climbed
11% despite the absence of any major news for the chip maker. Google
shares closed slightly higher. Investors focused on how recession-minded
shoppers fared at the malls. According to Sunday's reports, actual sales
last Friday chalk up 3% gain from last year. It is a positive sign.
